Poppy is William Lee Nichols. He was born on July 20, 1943. He has some stories now, and they are all true. He may have been a fisherman all of his life, but he doesn't tell fish tales. Randy is Poppy's oldest son. He actually started Poppy's Custom Lures to honor his dad and to share his life.

Poppy has had quite the life. Here is an interesting tidbit for you: Poppy worked on the set of an Elvis movie. It was called "Follow That Dream". It was filmed in Yankeetown, Florida, where Poppy is from. He was paid to stand and hold a shovel. I think he was a paid decoy. He and Elvis were roughly the same size. They both had jet black hair and those wonderful sideburns! From a distance, you could have easily thought Poppy was Elvis.

Poppy and Nanny, Sharelon, have been married for 59 years. They have 3 children, 13 grandchildren, and 30 great-grandchildren. Together, they love to build with their hands everything from boats to birdhouses.
